Tern House and The Byre
The Byre makes the perfect retreat from a busy world. Set on a tranquil hillside with a breathtaking panorama, they combine contemporary interiors, hand-crafted from limed-oak and Caithness slate, with traditional exteriors to create a gentle blend of old and new. Originally known as the Turn House, due to its location where the road turns down to Stein, the house dates from around 1860 and was renamed Tern House by a romantic former mariner some 30 years ago. It has been extensively rebuilt since 2001 under the guidance of award winning local architects.
Private and Relaxing
Holidays are something special. We never have more than one couple staying at any time, so space and peace are assured.
