The Old Byre
Originally a stone outbuilding, the Byre has been converted to an open plan studio in the same style and with the same hand-crafted oak and Caithness slate finishings as the main house. The living area has large amounts of glass which capture both the view and the sun. Off the living area is a large shower room and above it, on a mezzanine, is a separate sitting area. (The stairs to the mezzanine are steeper than standard stairs.) Guests sleep on the lower floor on a large (5ft 6in wide) high-tech fold out bed, which has an additional mattress topper for that extra comfort. Heating is underfloor, and a modern wood burning stove can be lit if desired.
The Byre is fully equipped with cooking and laundry facilities. We provide, and regularly change, all linen, towels, detergents, soaps, toilet and kitchen rolls and logs, kindling and firelighters for the fire.
